Why Chiropractic?

Natural Health Family, it’s good to speak with you again. Imagine you all are well or getting better. The past weekend had me thinking about how our country and the world we live in now has so much illness. Why many have accepted that illness or dis-ease is normal, maybe because it is more common. October has been deemed chiropractic month. I am not sure why October specifically is the month for chiropractic but let’s take a deep dive into how it all came to be.

Chiropractic comes from the Greek words cheir and praxis meaning hand and practice. So chiropractic means literally a practice done by the hands. Now if we look back in time, that is not the only aspect of what birthed chiropractic. In 1895, Dr. Daniel David Palmer had realized a solution to a man’s hearing by adjusting a bone in the body and allowing the man’s hearing to come back. David Palmer (D.D.) was an intellectual and curious person who wanted to know further as to why this was the case. To keep the story short, he started to understand that the human body is able to heal when there is no interference. He started to see that illness or health issues were abnormal and that health was the normal state of the body. So with this understanding he decided to investigate scientifically how our bodies function and what causes issues in the first place. Then, the art or technique to bring about health is what we know as the chiropractic adjustment.

When DD Palmer founded chiropractic he was able to help people with many issues, not only pain of the body such as in the neck, head, and back, but also many other issues such as ranging from digestion, bowel issues, blood pressure, sleep, energy, and the list goes on. As we start to switch from thinking that sickness is common to health is normal we will start to change the way we understand how our bodies can heal and restore the health of not only this country but the rest of the world.
