Hello Everyone in Natural Health Nation –
It’s getting colder but still fairly nice. I hope you all had time to look at and enjoy the beautiful trees and their changing colors. Fall is such a beautiful time of year but it’s what comes after that makes us all shiver. It’s also time to get a good handle on the state of our immune systems and be ready for the cold, and the Holidays. We’re ready at natural health to help you and yours be healthy over the winter and survive all the bad eating over the holidays. It starts with all the candy at Halloween and keeps on going through Easter. I used to do a demonstration in my classes showing that consuming a Coke and a twinkee had enough refined sugar to stop the immune system from working for the day. Refined sugars have no minerals or vitamins with them so to utilize the sugar for energy, the body has to rob somewhere so it pulls them away from the immune system and the bugs, that are always with us, can get a foothold. This is especially true if the body is stressed by cold or whatever. We have great whole food nutritional supplements to help strengthen the immune systems through the holidays and the cold weather.
The article that I’m sending along today looks at the need for good hydration and that the old guidelines are outdated. Hydration is such an important part of being healthy and is so easy if the person knows how it works. Just drinking water, especially a low-quality water, is not enough. The body needs electrolytes, which is basically a big word for salt. Were not talking about cheap refined table salt here but good quality sea salt or mineral salt. An example of this is when a person passes out from over heating in the summer, if they end up in the hospital, they are put on a saline solution IV. Saline solution is water and salt.
The medics know this stuff but don’t tall anyone about these simple healthful habits. We have also found it’s best to load the morning with water and not drink past 6 PM so you’re not up going to the bathroom at night. Our bodies are mostly water so we need to replenish this through the day. We also have a supplement called Cal-Amo that is a Calcium Salt pill. We go through a ton of Cal-Amo in the summer as it helps our patients have good energy and prevents muscle cramps and shin splints due to dehydration. We also strive to get our patients to drink spring water, or well filtered water like reverse osmosis water, not the chlorine and fluoride filled stuff from the tap. Being well hydrated helps with so many systems in the body. Examples include keeping your blood thin, getting lymphatics to drain correctly, keeping the discs in your back inflated, keeping metabolic processes going like energy production, and on and on. So important but easily overlooked.
