Switching It Up

Hello Natural Health Family! I imagine you had a great weekend which you accomplished a lot or just took it easy. Let’s start out with this question, what is something you want to do? Maybe you haven’t quite thought about it. Maybe it’s to start a new hobby. Maybe it’s to call up a friend that you haven’t seen in a while.  Today let’s discuss topics involving small changes and how they can make large shifts.

Have you ever tried to start a new habit? Have you ever tried something new or made a spontaneous trip? When we are able to do this we can see that our life starts to unfold in different ways. However, starting a new habit takes some energy to get over the hump. Just like doing something spontaneous or performing a different task may be a little fearful, we can be hesitant to switch it up. Nevertheless, when we are aware of this process, we can become better equipped to make the small changes and know that it will allow us to experience life more and in different ways.

We underestimate what we can do in a year but overestimate what we can do in a week. Perhaps it is a health goal. Many people think that if it’s not the quick fix it’s not worth it. If we look at eating habits then we would realize that it would be futile to think that eating a healthy food for one day is going to make that much of a difference. However, when we eat healthy food for a week, a month, a year, we can start to see some changes. It doesn’t just have to be with food. How about a hobby or a skill. Do you think the superstar guitarist, sports players, scientists, etc. were just born that way. Of course not. However, they decided to take a path and go for it. They felt passionate about something and chose to learn about it and practice whatever was needed to improve at the task. They had a goal in mind but more importantly knew it would be a process. So ultimately, if we can’t enjoy the process while getting to the goal then we continue to stare at the mountain peak wondering how am i ever going to do that rather than taking those first steps to get there.

With anything, it takes energy to do whatever it is that you want to do. However, as stated above, when we are able to enjoy the process, whether it is the highs and lows, the wins and the learns, the small or the large, we can direct the energy we have towards what we hold in mind. So whatever it is that has been coming up for you, remember life can move fast so enjoy the journey.
